Orange fever in Genk: MBS helps to expand leading Dutch holiday park
Buitenhof De Leistert, near Roermond in the south-east of the Netherlands, has built up a great reputation in the region. It has also expanded significantly every year since it opened in 2011. For its latest upgrade, this ambitious holiday park looked across the Dutch-Belgian border, commissioning Genk-based Machiels Building Solutions (MBS) to supply it with 50 new holiday homes by spring 2020.
Recreatiepark De Leistert exudes tranquillity, authenticity and history. Its luxury holiday villas may be inspired by traditional farmhouses, “but they have all the mod cons too,” points out Filip Vercauteren, CEO of MBS. "The bungalows come in a wide variety of sizes, colours and materials. The result is a series of deluxe holiday homes that are in keeping with the lanes and farms of the surrounding countryside." As well as these farm-inspired homes, we are building plenty of contemporary properties so that prospective buyers have a mix of styles to choose from.
Economies of scale and spreading of design costs
MBS is a specialist in holiday-cottage construction and builds all types of property. "We are only responsible for the timber-frame construction. Our partners, project developer Arcus Zuid and contractor Vlassak, are taking care of the assembly and finishing work."
So what made De Leistert choose MBS? "We guarantee a fast build time, which means our client can sell and let the properties quicker. Not only that but timber-frame construction delivers significant economies of scale as serial production allows us to keep manufacturing costs down while also spreading design costs across multiple dwellings."
Prestigious awards and sky-high ratings
The homes are proving popular with the park's holidaymakers too. Boasting high ratings and numerous awards, De Leistert ranks as one of the top holiday parks in the Netherlands, and MBS is proud to be involved in such a prestigious cross-border construction project.
