The existing three-room student house on Ambachtsschoolsstraat in Hasselt was expanded to nine rooms. The order for a timber-frame upward extension was placed in May 2016 on condition that the building would be wind and watertight by 1 July. The prefabricated components, which were already fitted out with joinery, brick slips, power sockets and switches at the MBS production plant, were installed in just two days. Work was successfully completed on 30 June. The building is fire-resistant and has acoustic certification, meaning that students can move in with peace of mind from September onwards.
